Our loving father, John William Andrews Sr., gained his angel wings on December 31st, 2023, which coincided with the feast day of the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. He was surrounded by his devoted wife and all eight of his children. He is survived by the love of his life, Marguerite Andrews, and his eight children: Kathy (Wendell) Vinson, Mary (Bill) Simmons, John (Maria) Andrews Jr., Lynn (Tim) Shomo, Mike (Karen) Andrews, Joe (Julie) Andrews, David Andrews, and Elizabeth (Tim) Knaus. Also left to cherish his memory are his 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous friends.
Born on September 22, 1933, in Daiseytown, PA, he moved to Ohio in 1952 to work at Babcock and Wilcox. Drafted into the Army, he discovered his passion for ham radio, affectionately known as K8NYL, and communicated diligently worldwide until his last days.
He often expressed that his purpose in life was to love his wife, Marguerite. They shared over 67 years of marriage, and their unconditional love served as a source of inspiration for all of us. A faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, he raised his eight children with unwavering dedication and lived the life of a devoted husband and father. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (Barberton). After 37 years of service, he retired from B&W in 1989. Guided by a strong work ethic and unshakable Catholic faith, he instilled these values in his family.
