John F. Hoosic, age 90, passed away January 11, 2021. He was born on February 10, 1930 in Swoyersville, PA. John was a resident of New Franklin for 60 years. An avid golfer and a master wood worker, making some extraordinary items on his lathe. He was a Penn State and University of Akron graduate. John retired from Babcock & Wilcox after 35 years service starting in Scranton, PA and worked in both the fossil and nuclear divisions. He was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church for the past 60 years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores, sons, George (Linda), Gene, daughter, Christine Stewart, son, Gerard (Brenda), 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Bernadine Heiser and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brother Thomas, daughter-in-law, Lorene Hoosic , son-in-law, Rodger Stewart and great grandson, Kyle Stewart.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619) Portage Lakes.
