John Edward Alchier, Sr.

John Alchier, Sr., age 73, passed away August 21, 2021.

He is survived by his children, Deborah, John Jr. (Kelly) and Gregory (Tammy), granddaughters, Riley and Tara (Aires), brother, Michael and sister, Jean, many close friends and extended family.

John was employed as an IT systems administrator with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for forty-six years.  After retirement, he volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Paul Catholic Church, where he was a long-time member.  He enjoyed history, current events and finances and sharing his insights with others. John was well known as being good hearted, generous and for often times leaving gifts on people’s front porches.

Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron, Ohio.  Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Family and friends will be received Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619) Portage Lakes.

In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Paul Church.
