Eugene (Gene) Foster

Eugene (Gene) Foster, 85, of New Franklin, Ohio passed away on Thursday December 10, 2020 at his home. Gene was born on January 22, 1935 to Robert and Edna Foster in Murphy, North Carolina. At the age of seven he moved with his family to Akron, Ohio where he lived the remainder of his life. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother J.B. and sisters, Mildred Stuart and Eileen Musgrave. He is survived by his wife Evie, son David of Findlay, Ohio, brother James of New Philadelphia, Ohio and grandchildren Joshua of Akron, Ohio, Jeremy of Seffner, Florida and Danielle of Findlay, Ohio.

Gene was an Army Veteran having served both in the Korean Conflict and the Allied occupation of Germany. He graduated from South High School and excelled in football, baseball and basketball. He retired from the B.F. Goodrich Company and spent many years working as a barber in his retirement. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed archery, hunting and fishing. 

Gene had a great many friends and touched the hearts of many with his positive spirit. He was always ready to help others in any way that he could. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Green, Ohio, Heartland Hospice of Cleveland, Ohio or the New Franklin Fire Department.

Private family services have taken place.  There will be no public services at this time.
