Bonnie Lee Janoczko, age 77, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Holy Thursday, 4/1/21, in the hour of Divine Mercy, after a long battle with COPD.
She was born March 30, 1944 in Cleveland to Charles and Dorothy (Phillips) Bonen and grew up in Hudson, Ohio. After retirement she lived in Barberton. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Francis de Sales Parish in Coventry, OH for many years.
Bonnie worked for many years as Director of Nutritional Services in long term care and retired from West View Manor in Wooster. Being a dietician suited her servant heart as Bonnie loved to cook, can foods, and share recipes. She was a blessing to others through her hospitable nature and by using her talent and kindness to help many learn to cook healthy, affordable meals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles E. Bonen II and G. David Bonen. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen (Ward) Harper of Aurora; daughter, Gisele (William) Kivlan of Delaware; son, Charles D. Shoemaker of Barberton; grandchildren, Katie (Travis) Quade, Kelly Kivlan of Maryland; Sarah Kline of Columbus; great-grandson Benjamin; cousins, Karen, Bruce, and other family and friends.
Bonnie will be forever remembered lovingly by many. Her son Chuck resided with Bonnie and remained faithfully by her side; as did her beloved dog, Molly. Her dear sisters in Christ from St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church cherish their time with her and have wonderful memories of Bible studies together, as well as many laughs and true friendship. Bonnie would like others to know the importance of not smoking, for it causes such irreparable damage. She also shared, “My strong faith and sense of humor have taken me through.” We would also like to thank the incredible staff of Crossroads Hospice, in particular Jennifer, Julie and Celeste who showed such love, gentleness and reverence in caring for Bonnie in her last two months.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, Ohio. Interment of cremains will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
