Alfred P. Petit Obituary

Alfred P. Petit went home to be with the Lord, June 9, 2022. He was born in 1926 in Doylestown, Ohio to the late Henry and Clara (nee Homan) Petit and lived most of his life in Springfield Township.

Alfred retired from General Tire after many years of service as a Machinist and was a Veteran of The United States Navy, serving in WWII. He witnessed the first American Flag on Iwo Jima going up.  He was a member of the Mogadore Boat Club, Nativity of The Lord Jesus Catholic Church and a past Boy Scout Leader. He was an avid card player and lived life to the fullest. He was very active, had a strong passion for life and enjoyed many things along the way such as bowling, fishing (especially on Lake Erie), hunting, golfing, traveling, gardening and being outdoors. Family was very important to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Felice; son, David; siblings, Carl, Dolores Trogen, Gertrude Lindeman, Helen Fry, Ruth McKee, Beatrice Meade, Irene Morley, Monica Hoover, Dorothy Houser and Leatha Petit; grandson, Christopher White; great grandchildren, Mark White and Trinity Petit and partner Mary Gautschi. He is survived by his children, LuAnn (Terry) Brooks, Denise (James) Walch, Karen Petit and daughter-in-law, Sue Petit, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all the family and friends taking the time with Alfred to take him places and do things that he could no longer do on this own. Thank you Traditions Health Hospice. You're all angels here on earth for the short time you were with Alfred. God bless you all. Thank you Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center for the care Alfred received to get him better and stronger before returning home to Kentridge Senior Living so he could go on one more fishing trip. Thank you Freedom Hunters who are made up of Volunteer Veterans (especially Brady Melear), nephew Norm Starling  and grandson Brandon Walch for giving Alfred the opportunity to go fishing on Lake Erie and local lakes.  Thank you KentRidge Senior Assisted Living and GreenView Senior Assisted Living facilities for the loving care Alfred received, developing friendships, providing transportation to many of the Senior Centers close by so he could play euchre and bridge. Alfred would be out of the building 3 to 4 times a week; plus, had his euchre group at GreenView. Many people have told me that they loved listening to Alfred's many stories throughout his life.
