Ruth I McMahan

Ruth McMahan, 99 of Akron went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill and son Bill and by her parents Paul and Elsie Blanchard-Poter.

She is survived by her son Mark and daughter Katherine (David), daughter-in-law Krista, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren, sisters Doris and Jean and brother Bill.

She was born in Cleveland and the family eventually moved to the Akron area. She graduated from Ellet High where she met her future husband, Bill. She worked at Goodyear while Bill was serving in WWII. On his return they were married. They were active members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Guild. Ruth enjoyed boating with her family on the Portage Lakes where they lived until they moved to The Villages, Florida for retirement. She enjoyed golf and had two holes in one. Ruth’s final years were spent at Brier Creek Lodge in Green, where she enjoyed many new friendships.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 5:45 pm at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., Portage Lakes, New Franklin.  Pastor Becki Verbridge officiating.  Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
